My favorite part of anything is the inspiration we find in the beginning. It is truly the best part of wedding planning and design. It’s the giddiness and excitement over the small and big details that will come to life in the near future.
Every couple has something they’re excited about, whether it’s a grand cake at the entrance, flowers that leave everyone saying “wow,” or simply dancing with their favorite person in the world.
This truly amazing bride and her mom were excited about the design in a way I wish every couple was because it makes the planning process so much fun. From the very beginning, they knew they wanted the wedding to feel high-end and old-world. They had a few ideas about the color palette, but they didn’t want anything that felt too trendy. We were talking about chartreuse, maroon, and chocolate brown long before TikTok found it, ha!
After a little convincing that chocolate brown is one of the dreamiest and most underrated colors ever, the bride said yes to dressing her bridesmaids in silky satin chocolate brown gowns from Bella Bridesmaids in Houston. It was the perfect choice.
From there, we knew we wanted the color pops to be chartreuse above all else, with the teeniest, tiniest pop of maroon. The design name, Maison Marron, has French origins, which feels perfect for this old-world, equestrian, Ralph Lauren-inspired design.
The Blue Magnolia is already an equestrian-style venue in North Houston. At their first tour, they noticed the large copper horse statue and knew they wanted it to be a part of the design. We loved having this fun detail incorporated throughout the entire design.
We wanted the day to feel rich, lush, and perfectly cozy, with all of the soft amber lighting reflecting off the venue’s more rustic elements, all tied together in a perfectly satin-rich, luxe design.
After all of the fabulous fashion was established, our next big step was floral, and we knew nobody could do this fluffiness better than Amanda Bee’s! With an eye for different floral varieties, textures, and how they mix together, we knew she would have so much fun with this design. She did not disappoint!
Next up were rentals. We knew we wanted fantastic, high-end materials and linens and, once again, textures brought into the space to elevate the equestrian barn style that was our base. The linens and brand-new pieces from Decor By Dulce really tied the entire event together.
Surprisingly, my favorite detail might still be the faux green marble checkered dance floor by Mike’s Dance Floors. It was such a fun way to bring the green into the space. It may be perfectly tied with the lush runner down the center of the head table in the reception space for the perfect wow moment as guests arrived.
And if I had to pick another favorite, it would be the staircase-flipped floral as the bride and groom came down for their big room reveal! And because, YESS, a girl loves her options and can have four favorites, the bright pop of color from the scalloped table numbers by LeLeLines truly tied everything together perfectly.
A super important thing to remember at the beginning of design is to think about the space. It may seem obvious, but not everything that’s beautiful works in every space. In this case, the entryway is such an important, major focal point that we knew we had to do something big and full of wow. I truly love the way the escort card table turned out.
When Natalie and her mom shared with me the soft taupe details they had added to the invitation suite from Bering’s, I knew we had to incorporate this soft tone for the perfect mix of our rich and bold colors throughout the day itself.
Overall, I have to say we started off the year fantastically with an award-winning design! What is your favorite part?
